Why Vibe Coding Is Called Vibe Coding?

Vibe Coding is taking jobs of software engineers. Software projects being outsourced are declining or effort to deliver new projects are decreasing due to Vibe Coding. So Vibe coding is center of attention.  We all know that Vibe coding refers to coding done by AI models for us. But why it is being called Vibe Coding? Seems quite strange and one go does not look very intuitive. 

So let us try to decipher that.

It seems that use of Vibe term originated the way we work with AI tools to develop the code. Vibe refers to atmosphere and feeling that atmosphere causes.  So in vibe coding,  we interact with the AI model in natural language based on our feel of the result of coding done by the tool. 

We give our initial prompt to the AI model to do some initial coding to build something we have in our mind and then we see result of that coding. We like something there and we do not like something there. Based on that likeness or feel, we further prompt AI model to make corrections. We keep working with AI Model this way, till the time, we do not get what we want. Now we like that vibe of working with AI model this way.

So this way of working with AI model in iterative way using our feel seems to have given birth of this name - 'Vibe Coding'.
